The NSA on the Risks of Exposing Location Data

The NSA has issued an advisory on the risks of location data.

Mitigations reduce, but do not eliminate, location tracking risks in mobile devices. Most users rely on features disabled by such mitigations, making such safeguards impractical. Users should be aware of these risks and take action based on their specific situation and risk tolerance. When location exposure could be detrimental to a mission, users should prioritize mission risk and apply location tracking mitigations to the greatest extent possible. While the guidance in this document may be useful to a wide range of users, it is intended primarily for NSS/DoD system users.

A mechanic working out of his home based business was skimming – business deductions he took flagged an irs algorithm – The irs landed on this guy – hard . . .

During the pre-trial discovery thing his lawyer got transcripts of the wire tap stuff from his cell phone – one of the transcripts was a conversation with a guy about the cost of fixing his car – how much for parts? – the mechanic says “let me get my phone out of the charger and TURN IT ON and call the parts store . . .

The irs was recording conversations in this guy’s house – they had the warrants – using a cell phone that was TURNED OFF – in a charger – in a different room – Do you FUCKING understand NOW?? . . .

The comments are actually more interesting than the article – in a revealing sorta way . . .
