And for you folks – part #4 of the series -me – personally I’m going with one of these from DXENGINEERING – more than likely the MFJ-1026 – just seems like the way to go for me – YMMV . . .
Currently running the Flamingo ( nooelec ) AM notch fliter – the RTL-SDR FM band pass filter – and it has helped some with noise – I was getting AM and FM “artifacts” all across the spectum and running these has helped that some.

I will keep playing with this as well as a mini-whip I’m going to try to cobble-up mount ( maybe kludge mount would be more accurate – LOL! ) this weekend – long wires in this type of electrical environment ARE noise magnets – you just learn to work around it as well as to just live with it. And the filters are helping some with the broadcast band interference – yes I know – one step at a time . . .
