Loosely based – very loosely based on the USS Paul Jones ( DD-230 ), a Clemson-class destroyer in World War II – a lot of “creative” liberty was taken by Hollywood – the first USS John Paul Jones – actually named John Paul Jones wasn’t commissioned until 1956. The Paul Jones was commissioned in April of 1921. But overall it’s a feel good WWII film.
A decent vehicle for both Edward G Robinson and Glenn Ford – and an almost believable supporting cast.
Enjoy!
