How to use Tecsun AN-200 Loop Antenna for “Better” MW

“The Man from South Africa” in this video gives you a great easy to follow tutorial of sorts to get you going on Medium Wave listening – it’s a really low cost and very entertaining hobby to get started in. Click on any of this highlighted text to go to his YouTube channel – full of good stuff!

I have been doing some day time explorating on the AM broadcast band (MW) with portables as I am still getting “stuff” sorted out in my disaster zone radio / junk room. The fun part is to find a low power day / night station and listen to it at night time when they operate on low power – for an example – KQAD out of Luverne, Minnesota – their mighty broadcast facility pumps out 800 watts during the day ( LOL ) and at local sunset they drop power to 80 watts – I can hear them at night – but just. And that’s using a GE Super Radio III AND a Tecsun AN-100 loop.

You can go to Amazonia or to Fleabay and pick one up – thinking seriously about picking up a TECSUN AN-48X and giving one a try – but always remember folks – the amplified antenna will ALSO AMPLIFY THE NOISE!

Winter is rapidly approaching – the clear cold nights make for some incredible broadcast band ( MW ) listening – the spring / summer thunderstorm activity makes listening difficult sometimes.

And speaking of winter coming . . .

mommy and daddy got us warm winter coats and we are hoping they will let us stay up late on Christmas eve and try to catch a glimpse of “Sandy Paws” and our hero – Rudolph the red nosed dachshund leading the 8 tiny dachshunds as he delivers treats and toys to all of us good doggies!!

I just don’t see that happening since 8:00 at night is a stretch for them – but I told the boys they could stay up late – IF they are good little boys – for Curtis and Oliver 9:00 pm is real late for them – we shall see . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
