Really neat package – ambi safety / skeletonized trigger / G10 grips / real sights / extended beaver tail — with commander style hammer / Flat Dark Earth(?) cerakote / full length guide rod / front and rear cocking serrations – i really don’t “get” front cocking serrations – i guess i’m just not enough of an operator – i do in fact know that the pistol i’m handling is loaded and has a round chambered – BECAUSE I’M HANDLING IT!! – SWEET JESUS SOME PEOPLES CHILDREN!!! Easy Bruce . . . i’m fine – really – i guess i’m NOT an “operating operator operating operationally” – just saying . . .
Barrel to bushing fit / bushing to slide fit – zero play – really GOOD tolerances as well on the slide to frame – zero play – a slightly different take on the guide rod bushing arrangement (see the pic below)
The retainer for the spring has a hole just big enough for the guide rod but retains the spring – I will get a post together showing a take down – cleaning – reassembly thing for you folks . . .
After sopping up about a quart of oil off of it – seriously Rock Island must dip these in a 5 gallon bucket of oil – I see why the come in a sealed bag! – a little clean / lube job – here you go . . .

I gathered up all the 1911 mags and headed to the range – Oh Boy!
All of this was shot at 25 feet – 1st point and shoot at the 1st target . . .
More point and shoot at the 1st target . . .
Point and shoot at the 2nd target . . .
Actually started using the sights a bit on the 3rd target . . .
Time to do some cleaning – between the 7 and 8 round mags ended up at about 97 rounds? I don’t know but it was fun stuff!
Going to put some white paint on the front sight – it’s black and so is the back sight – and going to upgrade the grips – Hogue 01237-BLKGRY Colt 1911 Government Magrip Kit, G-10 Piranha Arched Mainspring – the grips make quite a bit of difference for me at least – if you are thinking changing to these grips – price shop them – they are anywhere from $98 to $128 . . .
