I highly recommend tracking down a copy of the book by Martin Caidin – read it – then go back and watch the movie again . . .

The book continues after Mr. Lasky is picked up by Mr. Tideman (Commander Owens) and Laurel after the Nimitz returns to Pearl Harbor. They have quite an interesting conversation – which of course sets the whole thing up for a second movie – which unfortunately never happens.
