Mrs. Shortstack Won’t Be Happy with this Post – LOL!

Shortstack will see this – and it will be as bad as me with a new model Cold Steel knife – I actually see a bad ending for both Shortstack and myself – but she can only stomp us once – Shortstack for buying one – and me for dangling it in front of him. Can’t say I really blame her though, the prices on a good one these – hard to wrap your head around – Hell folks – I don’t play the guitar – nor do I play a guitar player on TV – and I want one!

Happy Birthday to Me from the Chicken Rancher!

The Chicken Rancher called me the other day, was out in my end of the world. Wanted to grab a bite for lunch (which I had to decline) and give me a birthday present. Most restaurants really don’t like puppies at the table with you – some closed minded people out there folks – just saying . . .

So Curtis and I meet with him while he was getting the work van serviced . . .

The spike collar is for YOUR protection – keeps you from getting to close to the mandibles of death!

Curtis to his friends – for the rest of the normies out there it’s General Curtis Emerson LeMay – trust me when I say he’s Curtis to everybody he meets – free kisses for everybody – and for no extra charge – free eyeglasses cleaning – LMAO!

Where was I? That’s right – birthday present!

A Kizer box – Oh My . . .

A Kizer Sheepdog Cleaver XL / Carbon Fiber – SWEEEET!

The carbon fiber scales are way cool, and the pop of blue around the pivot – Oh YEA . . .

The blade is riding on bearings with a fairly stout detent – pop the flipper and it IS coming out to a good – positive liner lock . . .

Stainless pocket clip that’s low profile enough that there is no hot spot when using the knife – feels real good in the hand . . .

The blade steel is 154CM – which is almost a standard for GOOD blade steel forever – hard, tough steel – holds an edge real well . . .

Carrying it? You do realize it’s there – at over 1/2 lb . . .

And the “folder” included? Cleaning cloth – propaganda – and extra screws . . .

Real cool birthday present from the Chicken Rancher – Kizer knives were on my radar but I just never grabbed one yet – I be thinking I might pick up one or two more . . .

What’s in YOUR pocket? ( besides treats for Curtis? )

Higonkami Folding Knife

The Chicken Rancher sent me a link to this strange little knife – Strange knife? – Me?

Of course that equaled “must have” so I started looking – and found them on Amazonia for $26 – Clicked the button and 3 days later here we are . . .

What I have found through the web is if the box has a blue graphic on it . . .

It is made in Japan – has a “Blue Paper Steel” blade and has the traditional brass handle – the are some that are made in China – and from what I have read – not a lot of difference except a Japanese knife made in Japan vs a Japanese pattern knife made in China – you will also find them with steel handles, but the brass is the traditional material . . .

I teased myself pretty bad with this – I waited a whole day before I opened the box – LOL!

Was not disappointed when I opened it – a good looking – almost cute – little knife . . .

It doesn’t flip open per say – it really is a two handed operation . . .

Ain’t wasting nothing on a liner lock or frame lock – when the blade is open your thumb on top of the “flipper” holds the blade open . . .

Liner for the blade? No need, it’s in a brass frame – saves weight – labor – and materials . . .

As simple as simple can be – a folded piece of brass – a rivet – a blade – completely straight forward – blade loose? Put one side of the rivet on a vise or other piece of metal – tap lightly and it’s tight . . .

Weighs just about nothing . . .

All right Bruce – What in the world is a “Blue Paper Steel” blade? I knew that question was coming – LMAO!! I have found a couple of links that can explain that far better ( and probably a lot easier to make sense out of ) than I can – the first is Higonkami”s web site – the second link is “KnifeinKitchen.com and will give you more info than you ever thought you wanted to know about “Blue Paper Steel” – but maybe you do – they REALLY explain it . . .

Bottom line? If you want it as a novelty? Sure – As a pocket knife? It will work for that – and it’s just something a little bit different . . .

What’s in YOUR pocket?

Some Fun for Your Saturday Night . . .

From American Bandstand –

From roughly 2013 – even the “mature” crowd are still “doing the tighten up” . . .

And the original . . .

Did the karoke thing for about a dozen years on both sides of the mic in a past life time – “Tighten Up” played during a break would get folks going – as well as this one –

These two songs just get folks up and moving – once in a blue moon we’ll sneak out to a karoke bar just to hang in the back and watch – their are actually some decent singers out there – but folks, there just ain’t nothing quite as entertaining as alcohol powered karoke – as long as the drinks flow and the tunes are playing the show never ends . . .
