That Ugly “P” Word. Again.

In many of my firearm posts I stress Practice – Practice – Practice – Hence the reference to “That Ugly “P” Word” . . .

I want you folks to watch this video and pay particular attention starting at about the 1:18 mark – the officer has shot his pistol dry – slide is locked back – and he is attempting to strip the empty magazine out of his pistol – you have to press the magazine release to release the magazine – which he fails to do . . .

One More Time – PRACTICE!

You can do it simply enough – First NO AMMO IN THE ROOM! – empty pistol with the slide locked back – empty magazine in the pistol – pistol held in shooting grip – now release the magazine – you may have to alter your shooting grip to engage the magazine release – you may have to strip the magazine out with your other hand if it does not drop free – put the empty magazine back in the pistol – re-establish your shooting grip and do it again – 25 reps a day for month or so should for most folks establish that set of actions as a reflexive movement – after that 5 to 10 times every couple of weeks should be often enough ( for most of you ) to keep the magazine release “memory” fresh in your list of reflexive movements – and I don’t know about YOU – but I can hear a training officer or two ( or more ) hollering at his or her computer screen while watching this . . .

How many times did Jerry Miculek practice reloading to achieve 12 shots in 2.99 seconds? – 5,000? – 10,000? I don’t have a clue ( chances are neither does Jerry – LOL ) – but the motions involved became a reflex action for him – he didn’t think about doing it – he simply did it . . .

HMS Royal Oak – A Documentary Well Worth Your Time . . .

On the night of Friday 13th October 1939 German U Boat Commander Gunther Prien penetrated the British Navy’s main anchorage at Scapa Flow and sank HMS Royal Oak. 833 men lost their lives in one of the worst tragedies in British Naval history.
The wreck of HMS Royal Oak is a designated war grave and all diving is prohibited but a special permission was granted by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy for the wreck to be filmed as a moving tribute to all those who lost their lives.
This video includes underwater images of the wreck which have never been seen before and there are interviews with survivors and Orcadian Sandy Robertson who was the first diver to go on the wreck the day after she sank . . .

The section of the clip that starts at about the 2 minute mark is from SinkEx89 – note the water “jumping” from the muzzle blast when turret one fires – the last one firing in the video – Iowa class battleships could put nine 16 inch shells – each weighing 2000 plus pounds in a ninety foot circle at 20 plus miles – EVERY. THIRTY. SECONDS.

The only problem with battleships? – They were designed for one purpose and one purpose only – to fight other battleships – they did well with shore bombardment as long as what you were targeting was close enough to the coast – but essentially they were a single purpose weapon system . . .

If the Rittenhouse Trial Made You Angry, What’s Happening Now Should Infuriate You

“I’d ask you to pardon the following rant, but the fact is it’s time to stop pussyfooting around. Some things just need to be said, period.

We aren’t looking at a political divide in America. We aren’t witnessing a “lack of empathy”, or “racial tensions”, or “identity politics”, or any of the other tired, sorry nonsense constantly offered up to explain the idiocy we see all around us these days. I’ll even go so far as to say we aren’t witnessing agitation purposefully sown by the “elites” to “divide and conquer” (though it certainly started out that way).

What we are seeing, plainly put, is whole-cloth insanity. I’m not using that word figuratively; I mean one hundred percent, bona-fide, men in white coats with butterfly nets, and it’s now clearly affected such a huge percentage of the world population that there is no coming back from it. These people are legit crazy, and the level of nutso is reaching fava beans and nice Chianti proportions.

You saw the same trial I did, not that anyone needed to see the whole trial because any fifteen minute portion of it was more than sufficient to prove that Kyle Rittenhouse was a victim and the scumbags he offed deserved every part of what they got. Did you know that the jury wasn’t informed about any of their criminal past? 

The prosecution chose not to bring it up, which precluded the defense from doing so (exactly as it should be). Yet without even knowing how much the Rittenhouse attackers were similar in pillar-of-the-community status with, say, George Floyd and Jacob Blake, they STILL found in favor of the defendant (ALSO exactly as it should be).”
