All I Get is Noise!!

Here is one approach to the issue . . .

And there are other ways to mitigate noise – first pic is the is with the loop ( DXE-RF-PRO-1B ) facing 90/270 degrees – remember – as you are looking through the loop it hears equally well to the sides – the open is the nulls . . .

And with the loop turned to 30/210 degrees – the nulls now facing 120/300 degrees the noise drops off quite a bit – as long as you can turn “a deaf ear” to the noise and still hear the signal – it’s good . . .

I am going to draw out my antenna setup showing the grounding – the interesting part is sometimes I actually end up with a better signal to noise ratio ( SNR for short ) using the random wire antenna – or switching SDR’s and antennas – hey, whatever works!

Here is a pic of the 3 I use regularly – upper left / RTL-SDR.COM V3 running on a Raspberry PI5 – upper right / Airspy HF+ Discovery on a windows box – lower right / SDRplay RSPdx-R2 on a windows box . . . They all have their strengths and weakness’s – they are all tuned to 9.655Mhz and running off the loop . . .
