This being Sunday and all – For Those Who Have Strayed – Gun Jesus Apocrypha: The Gospel of Browning

Amen . . .

Thank You Baby Jesus . . .

I’m toting my M1991A1 this week and it has the Sacred Number in the magazine – 7 . . .

And in God’s chosen caliber as handed down to St. Browning – .45ACP . . .

LMAO !!

Single Action Self Defense – All Y’all Don’t Laugh . . .

I get in the right mood I carry a 3 1/2 inch Birds Head right side and a 5 1/2 inch Bisley left side cross draw – both chambered in .45 Colt – 255 Grain round nose flat point – think paving brick at 800 feet per second – Ouch!!

Anyway here’s HRFunk with a neat little video – Enjoy!

Two Neat Finds

These were “tool box” finds – folks found them in the bottom of an old tool box and I inherited them – to say they were in “rough” condition would be VERY charitable – the shape they are in at this point is after about 3 weeks of lifting rust of of them – WD40 – CLP – and gently rubbing with fine steel wool . . .

Soak with WD40 for a day or two – then gently rub with steel wool – then soak for a day or two with CLP and gently rub with steel wool – Once you start getting to more metal than rust – switch to CLP only and keep repeating – not to restore per say – but just to get them to open and close and to be able to read the tang stamp . . .

This first one is an Imperial Knife Company – 2 blade – bone handles – note the cut in the frame so you can open the large blade by “pinching” it . . .

The shrinkage on the bone handles is considerable – that equals OLD! I kept after it to be able to read the tang stamp – sometimes you are able to date knives fairly close by the tang stamp . . .

Seeing the tang stamp and realizing how old this knife is makes the effort worthwhile – The IKCO stamp in a diamond was only used for 3 years – 1936 – 37 – and 38 . This little darling is 85 plus years old – cool stuff . . .

The second one is a Camillus electricians knife . . .

The markings on the scales are interesting – but I have no clue what significance the markings “230B” or “33g” reference . . .

The tang stamp puts it somewhere after 1956 and prior to app. 1980 . . .

What’s in YOUR pocket?

Are Pistol Sights Actually Useful For Self-Defense?

From Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner – If you take nothing else away from this realize that repetition of the drills is essential – PRACTICE – PRACTICE – PRACTICE !! Then go PRACTICE again – Stay in PRACTICE !! The only way to develop muscle memory is to PRACTICE ! – You are getting awful free with that P word Bruce . . . The only way to get consistent is by repeating the drills – Dry fire is a good tool to reinforce your skill set – BUT – You must have a skill set to reinforce – and the only way to acquire it?? That’s right – Practice . . .

I started long ago with what we called shirt button shooting – you pick out the shirt button ( or spot ) where you want the magic hole to appear – then you draw / sight / and fire – and hit that 3/8 inch dot on the target. You start slow and just keep doing the drill again and again – after about a 1000 or so single shot reps you will notice your “beep” ( you really don’t need a timer, a buddy randomly saying GUN! will work to get you started ) starts a pre-programmed “action” on your part – that action being – grip/draw/point/fire – all in one long thought – you have to PRACTICE that enough that your response to the threat stimulus is an automatic reaction – your not thinking through each separate event – all 4 actions become a “single” event . . .

Eventually you will get to the point that you realize you are not “seeing” your sights – you are just bringing the pistol up and pulling the trigger when the sight picture overlay is in the right place on the target picture . . . It’s an interesting point when you realize you are not seeing a precise sight picture on top of a target picture but you are still getting hits where you have picked “the spot” that you want the magic hole to appear . . .

I’ve rambled enough already – Enjoy the video!

Defend Biden on this. I dare you.

Just so you folks know – the pedophile you’re watching is talking about a 9 year old girl – please step right up and defend pedophilia – we’re all waiting . . .

And by the way – cognitive thought processing is optional . . .

Old Pedo Joe goes completely off the rails at about 3:22 in the video – what a living breathing cluster fuck . . .

Still waiting for someone to explain the approximately 158 million votes cast counted with only 133 million registered voters – it cannot be done – that’s probably why I’m still waiting for an explanation . . .

Found this – Totally Forgot About It – OOPS!

Was digging through one of the lock boxes and found this red box . . .

The receipt puts it at August of 2019 – not only did I forget about it but I don’t even remember it . . .

Sig p232 SL . . .

Pawed through my notes – sure as Hell – I bought it! – the original owner put 2 mags through it – just didn’t like it – put it up and forgot about – I put 4 mags through it and my notes claim one of the mags doesn’t like to feed very well – I sure don’t remember it – Oh Well – if I get time I’ll stick a post together on it and give you folks a look at it . . .

Thinking about it I vaguely remember it – but I don’t remember why I didn’t do a post on it at the time – LOL! . . .

Ain’t real sure what I’m gonna do with a pristine Sig P232 SL with less than 50 rounds through it – I sure don’t remember what my thinking was when I bought it – I’ll figure something out . . .

My New Cimarron is . . .

A Cimarron Nickel 1911 – Sweet Stuff – and in God’s chosen caliber as brought to us by Saint Browning – .45 ACP (LOL) . . .

Fancy grips ( plastic – ugh ) – and a muzzle brake . . .

The factory grips and barrel bushing and 7 round mag DID NOT come with it – plus side to that – it came with a Wilson Combat 8 round magazine . . .

Of course I changed the recoil spring and guide rod to a Wilson Combat from Brownell’s – and threw the buffer away – this makes a noticeable difference in the recoil impulse . . .

Enough Barbra Streisand Bruce – How’s it shoot??

Brought it up twice just to see how the sight picture – target picture – grip – alignment thing was looking – it was good – I dumped the magazine – It’s a Keeper!!

This next one?? – I guess slow fire is a relative thing – to me slow fire is sight alignment and bang – right at one round per second – it works . . .

Next is 3 – 8 round magazines – dump the mag and drop – fresh mag – dump the mag and drop – fresh mag – dump the mag – drop the mag out – 24 rounds in about 21 seconds – including mag changes – be loving me some 1911 . . .

I polished the muzzle brake to get the mat finish look up to more of a polished look and ordered some new grips and grip screws for it from Wicked Grips – I will give you folks a good look under the hood and a look at the grips next week – they are too cool . . .

Good Looker – Eh? . . .

Just one question at this point Bruce – Yes . . . Cimarron – the cowboy gun seller “King” – A friggin 1911??

They ( Cimarron ) started marketing the 1911 when SASS started “The Wild Bunch” division – if you <<<GO HERE>>> you can scroll down and download the handbooks for the division – fun stuff right there . . .

So Cimarron started with the 1911 pattern aiming for the “Wild Bunch” shooters – and they and Armsor/Rock Island actually did a “decent” job on coming up with a circa 1913 government model 1911 – it’s not perfect – but it’s close enough that it is allowed in the competition – and NOBODY wants to run the snot out of their 5 to 10 thousand dollar Colt original pistol . . .

When I get the grips we will take a closer look at 1911 government vs 1918 government/commercial models vs Rock Island – no real GLARING differences – but they are there – in the meantime – trot your happy ass to the range and PRACTICE!!
