Springfield XDM 40

The Springfield XDM series sorta went right by me – never paid it much attention either way – good – bad – whatever . . . Went by GGGPawn and Bill ran this by me – I’m like “sure, why not -the price is right!” Got this small suitcase and it is plumb full of “stuff” – comes with about everything but ammo – as well as Trijicon night sights / laser and a recoil spring / guide rod upgrade – cool stuff

And a total of 5 magazines – not a bad looking pistol . . .

Thumb scallops . . .

No ambi slide release – however the magazine release works from either side . . .

Front grip frame texturing . . .

And rear of the grip frame – the texturing looks like it would be a little “much” – it actually works pretty good – anchors the pistol in your hand quite nicely . . . and a view of the grip safety – which is totally transparent – if you have a hold on it – the safety is disengaged – you really don’t notice it . . .

Slide locked back . . .

Take down is simple as it gets – slide locked back – rotate the lever – slide comes right off – easy as it gets . . .

Guide rod is NOT captured so pay attention – they will get loose and “hide” for days – they will actually travel to the other side of the living room and scurry under the chair and hide up against the base board – at least that’s what I’ve been told . . .

A look under the slide – firing pin block / striker – good looking machine work – no “chatter” marks – nice sharp surfaces . . .

And a loaded chamber indicator . . . Bruce ! Enough already – does it shoot ??

Groups 1 through 4 was me chasing the laser – group 5 was 5 rounds with the laser off – not really a fan of targeting lasers – they actually tend to distract me more than anything else – maybe shoot 5 or 10 thousand rounds just using a laser I might get used to them – but at this point it’s kind of an old dog / new trick thing – I admit I let the XDM line go right by me – I like the way it feels / shoots / recoil management . . . I changed the back strap out to the smallest one and it feels a whole lot better – I think I should have done that before I shot it – Really looking forward to running it hard and see how it feels and shoots with the different back strap and a little more practice – might have to look around for one in 45acp – and I probably won’t have to look too hard as there are a lot of them out there in pawn shops and gun stores – if you are looking for a decent polymer framed pistol and just can’t warm up to another Glock – take a closer look at the Springfield XDM series – they are pretty neat!!

Best use of a QUICK 50RDS of TRAINING !

So . . . now you bought your gun – even managed to buy some ammo with it . . . You have figured out what the 4 basic rules of gun safety are . . . got a handle on manipulation of it / loading / unloading / loading and unloading magazines etc. – Why Hell’s Bells Bruce I’ve even shot it and “stuff” – yesterday I couldn’t spell responsible firearm owner – Today I are one . . .

Well folks you are just getting started – gun ownership is a lot like buying a car . . . You pay your money and away you go. Cars are simple -anybody can run into a telephone pole – ask me how I know that!! – LMAO . . . gas in your car = ammo for gun / wash your car = clean your gun / practice driving = practice shooting – you get the idea . . .

This quick little video features Lena Miculek – Jerry’s daughter ( after watching her mannerisms and listening to her speech patterns there is simply no way Jerry can deny that Lena is not his girl ) showing you how to have a good practice session with 50 rounds and a place to shoot – you can even adapt this to an indoor range by simply selecting the right target. BE AWARE – some ranges require you to be “DFH” – Draw From Holster qualified – so please check – ok?? Today is never a good day to give a range safety officer a stroke !! – Let’s watch the video!!

Just love watching her “stuff” . . .
