Nebula 75 – Supermarionation

I have no clue how long this will stay up on the Tube – from the channel –

“For a limited time only, the complete first series of ‘Nebula-75’ is available to watch in full on Youtube. Join Commander Neptune, Circuit, Doctor Asteroid, Solstice, and Mercury as they enjoy a full season of retro-puppet adventures. The first series of ‘Nebula-75’ was a brand-new puppet lockdown drama made entirely during confinement in 2020 using only existing puppets and materials. Filmed in Supermarionation, it follows in the tradition of ‘Thunderbirds’, ‘Stingray’ and ‘Fireball XL5’ while at the same time also being filmed in SuperIsolation and Lo-Budget!”

I have already watched it – and it’s a hoot – Enjoy!

Fresh Out of the Box : Sangean ATS-909X2

A quick look and how I’m going to compare the Sangean to my SDR . . .

Got a chance to do some listening the other day using the Kaito reel up portable antenna – strung up inside the living room – far less than ideal . . .

The pic below is the XHDATA D-808 shown with the Kaito portable reel antenna . . .

What amazes me is how large the Kaito antenna looks sitting there with the XHDATA – that is one itty bitty radio!

What I really wanted to do was to hook up to my MLA 30 + . . . Of course I couldn’t find my adapter – shit – looking for something else I found it in a box ( where else? ) of stuff that I had tossed stuff into during the initial unpacking . . .

Now I can hook directly ( and correctly! ) to the MLA 30+ – The plan is to run through short wave frequencies with the SDR – write down frequencies and and rate on a simple 1 through 10 of how they sound.

The beauty of the SDR is you can tell at a glance signals and modulation – you can cover 50khz through 30mhz in about 3 minutes – because it’s a visual thing . . .

You look at signal strength – the higher the peak the stronger the signal – the more modulation “blooms” on the waterfall the better you can hear it . . .

Slowly but surely my gun/knife/radio and general shit room is coming together – grand daughters are wanting me to do the YouTube thing – I am resisting – seems like a lot of effort to me . . .

So let me ask you – and YOU as well – do you think the YouTube thingy is worth the effort – there are a whole lot of channels out there covering SWL/guns/knives/cooking etc. – does the world REALLY need one more??

” CARE AND USE OF HAND TOOLS PLIERS AND SCREWDRIVERS ” 1943 WAR DEPARTMENT TRAINING FILM

Most of this was taught in shop class in high school years ago – that teaching has pretty much gone by the way side – most companies with a dedicated maintenance department had mechanical aptitude testing that you went through to even get to the interview process – companies quit doing that since that is somehow discriminatory – and I will go so far as to say this brought about some very interesting teaching moments on the production floor as you were trying to bring new “mechanics” up to speed . . .

Friday Music : Sound Corporation of America (SCA) Store Backgound Music – Let’s Go Shopping

Had a friend that had one of the playback decks and a pile of tape as well as one of the later radio receivers that picked up the FM sub-carrier – neat stuff – “elevator” music from back in the day – so put your feet up and relax – enjoy your Friday – and tell the slave driver I said it’s perfectly fine – Enjoy!

Just not going to have time to do Fanny Friday this week – but – normalcy might be approaching – LOL!
