Before the Pine Bluff Police Department standardized their duty weapons – you could pretty much carry anything you could qualify with and were willing to tote around on a duty belt for 8 plus hours a day. Good friend of mine carried a model 25 chambered in .45 Colt – I asked him W.T.A.F.? – he said “if I shoot have to somebody I want them to stay shot!” – Makes perfectly good sense to me . . .
And yes folks – they are available – quite a few listed on Gun Broker – or you should be able to order one from your local “Happy Happy Joy Joy” store – (Gun Shop for you uninitiated / unwashed masses – LOL! ) NOT a cheap date by any stretch – Ammo prices? – started reloading just to keep myself in practice rounds for my cowboy guns chambered for .45 Colt – there are quite a variety of “self defense” types of rounds available – but really folks – if a 255 grain lead flat point rumbling down the line at about 850 fps WON’T do it I really don’t know what to tell you except possibly call in artillery or an air strike – just saying . . .
And if YOU can’t decide between the Model 25 or a more “traditional “cowboy” gun? – buy them both – and you can tell your wife Bruce said it was OK – LMAO!
I even have a “conceal carry” cowboy type snub nose device chambered in .45 Colt – and it is one of the funnest guns that I have to go out and run a hundred or so rounds through that I own . . .

Barrel less than 4 inches make it a snubby – right?
The .45 Colt round is an absolute hoot to shoot – just something about that big old round lumbering along that just appeals to ME as much as a 230 grain .45acp does . . .

PPU produces 357 in 158 grain – in either jacketed flat point or jacketed hollow point that does 1607 fps out of a 6 inch test barrel which is what the industry uses to test velocity – have not run it past a chronograph – but it is quite a handful ( brutal is an understatement! ) out of a 2 inch snubby – the fireball is quite distracting in daylight – and it is quite an unpleasant surprise firing it out out of a Ruger Blackhawk 5 inch – long ago everybody loaded 357 Magnum for real . . .

Yes – I know that picture isn’t very good – one of the ” to do list ” of things in progress is an actual “place” to take real pictures with real lighting AND with my real camera . . .
The Altamont grips sure look good on that Blackhawk – and I make it look even better of course – LMAO!
With 357 magnum capable revolvers out on the market starting at about $400 bucks or so new – a simple question for you – you don’t have one yet because??

After reading and watching many reviews – I picked up a D-808 about a month ago. The reason being wanting something cargo pocket sized to use rather than my Grundig Yacht Boy 400. Ran across one that was essentially NOS – New Old Stock – and I really didn’t want to use/abuse it as a daily beater. It’s way too pristine for that – so I started looking . . .
The D-808 . . .

The Grundig YB 400PE – the “PE” – “Professional Edition” – is a just a YB 400 in a silver finish – a very good performer in either edition – for a pocket sized radio sort of the gold standard – it will just fit in a cargo pocket – I really didn’t want to use a truly collectable radio as a beater . . .

A side by side look at the little darlings . . .

I haven’t gotten a lot of SWL done with yet – but I have been working a lot of AM broadcast band with it and it’s a very good performer – the limited SWL I have done with it – mostly daytime – it seems to be really good – I have almost found my radio room so the next look at it I can give you should be a better deep dive look at the SWL performance of it – I’m actually on a human schedule – sleeping nights – up during the day. After 20 plus years of nights it only took 11 months to start sleeping like a normal human – LOL!
Here’s a great review from Todderbert – he has a good YouTube channel with a LOT of reviews – go check him out – worth the click through!
Is the little radio worth the + – $100 dollars? Except for the audio quality – an itsy bitsy teeny weeny speaker – plug in an extension speaker or use a set of headphones if you can’t stand the speaker! – I would say go ahead and get one and drive it like you stole it – nice little radio!
