BIG Varmint Rifles

The top two videos are a little dry but they show the “how it works” and “how it gets there” side of the operation, The fire control on the IOWA Class ships were capable of consistently putting a nine round salvo of 16 inch rounds in a 90 foot circle. At 23 miles. Every 30 seconds. At 32 Knots.

There were numerous proposals studied to keep the IOWA Class ships in service involving a myriad of refits – the problem was they were designed as a single purpose weapon system – seek out other battleships – engage them – sink them – and in reality probably no better “platform” was ever built in most experts opinions than the IOWA Class – the only problem?? – there are no more battleships . . .
