Fusion Firearms – 1911 Reaction 5″ – 9mm

The “Reaction” comes in a really nice range bag that makes a quick trip to the range a breeze – multiple pockets inside and out . . .

Bruce – What? Stop with the bag – we want to see the pistol !!!

Oh – Okay . . .

Good looker – The cocobolo grips ( AAA grade ) really sets this apart from the G10 masses generally available in the market today – there’s something to be said for wood grips – before we go through the features let’s look at Fusion Firearms . . . as in who Fusion is – where they come from etc.

Fusion Firearms is a relative newcomer to the market – founded in 2007 they have only been “around” for about 13 years – However – Robert Serva, the president of Fusion Firearms is no “newbie” to the firearms scene – he was the drive behind the Dan Wesson brand re-establishing itself in the marketplace – he brings a tremendous knowledge and skill set to the arena – He wanted to do it his way – and he did ( much to the markets benefit !! ) I urge each of you to go HERE and explore their site – really impressive stuff – and then you start looking at their custom shop – it is a custom shop !! – if you can imagine it and if it is possible to build – Fusion WILL get it done!!

Enough Barbra Striesand already – Tell us about the gun !!

And away we go . . . Government Model frame – but it sure ain’t no GI build – let’s see what boxes we check – the most obvious right up front – the grips – simply wonderful wood – skeletonized trigger with over travel adjustment / memory bump grip safety / beaver tail / commander hammer / Novak style rear fixed sight / fiber optic front sight / front slide serrations / extended thumb safety AND extended slide lock . . .

Comes with a bushing wrench – it’s almost tight enough to need it – 3 spent shell casings – and something you just don’t see – a 10 lb recoil spring besides the ( I assume ) the 12 lb in the gun . . .

Vertical serrations on the mainspring housing . . .

view of the memory bump on the grip safety and grips . . .

Front checkering . . .

rear sight . . .

Front view showing fiber optic sight and crowned barrel . . .

and all the pieces and parts . . .

Besides the range bag it comes with one 10 round magazine . . .

That’s all good Bruce – does it shoot???

My blushing bride’s first string of fire . . . a little grip and stance adjustment – 1911 platforms are a little different when you pick one up and start using them . . .

Second string with the “Reaction” for her . . . She really be liking her some 1911 / 9mm platform action – and before we wrap up – I limbered up the RIA Government model – it really felt strange not carrying it – this is dumping 2 mags in just under 13 seconds . . .

And yes I took a few shots with the “Reaction” – gonna have to get one in 45acp but would not hesitate to carry this one – I know – SACRILEGE – I shot a 1911 platform and it wasn’t in 45acp AND I would in fact carry it – it shoots that GOOD !!

Some thoughts about this . . . Good looker – great performer – it has a “real” quality feel when you pick it up – it just feels right – I like the white front sight – the checkering on the front of the grip frame really anchors it in your hand – the wood is a wonderful, warm, “thing” – for you folks out there who have only dealt with “Fantastic Plastic” or G10 grips I have a hint for you – you are missing something – fit and finish? for a production gun it’s VERY impressive – looking forward to one in 45acp

From my blushing bride – Love the Gun – Very impressed – just “feels” good in my hand – ( Bruce! – shut the fuck up!! – yeah I went there – LOL!! ) – might even think about one in 45acp ( she might be coming to the right side of the tracks!! ) – the grips just make the gun – nice overall but the grips just put the icing on the cake – when we going to the range again??

Picked this up through Brownells – GO HERE to go straight to the “Reaction” – and Brownells was simply wonderful to deal with – ordered @ 6:52 am Monday morning – was sitting @ Inner10 at 3:45 Wednesday afternoon – Wow – talk about service . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
