Two For You from BladeHQ : Old School / New School : Real Cool

Y’all didn’t know I was a poet – did ya??

We are going to look at two stilettos I picked up from BladeHQ – and they are both stilettos yet they are very different . . .

They are both automatic or what are commonly called switchblade knives . . .

The top one is a 9 inch SKM – Killer Bee – real old school cool . . .

The bottom one is a Keshaw Launch 8 – new school cool . . .

Handling both of them – the “Killer Bee” takes me back 50 plus years – good crisp button – the blade comes out nice – the bolster lock was like old home week – just too cool . . .

The Launch 8 from Kershaw? I’m all in – the more forward button allows you a better hand position – very crisp and positive button – blade swing out? – you could use it as the tactile definition of “Snick” – I’m in Lust – as cool as the “Killer Bee” is – the Launch 8 just totally out classes it – as much as I love the “classic” pattern of the “Killer Bee” and will continue to collect old school stilettos – the Kershaw Launch 8 in my new EDC – just that simple – and I am a fan of the Sicilian Pattern stiletto . . .

I have to admit the work that is being done today with acrylics is a LOT better looking than 50 years ago – you had 4 choices – dark horn – tan horn – brittle black plastic – or wood . . .

This next one gives you a close look at the bolster – you see the curve at the rear ( or bottom in this pic ) – so when you pivot the bolster clockwise as you are looking at it – the right front corner ahead of the rivet will lift the look off of the blade – old school cool . . .

Here’s a close look at the Launch 8 – button and front bolsters – the button both releases the blade ( Snick! – love it ) and then releases the blade to close it – and the carbon fiber insert just adds a nice look to it . . .

Not a polished blade – Kershaw is calling it “stone washed” – it’s growing on me . . .

I actually have quite a few knives and a friend told me to start doing some reviews of some of the oldies and goodies I have – and show all you folks some of them – so here you go – but before I go here is one I had totally forgot about – was looking for something else entirely and found it in a box of “stuff” I was digging through – it was literally gone AND forgotten . . .

Picked it up in a shop on the north side of Custer S.D. probably 10 years ago or longer – Duck Brand doesn’t really exist anymore but you can still find these under various logo’s – <<< CLICK HERE – this search page will get you started >>> – and remember – If YOU can’t decide which knife to buy – buy them both – YOU have MY permission . . .

I had a dear friend tell his wife just exactly that – “But Dear! – Bruce told me if I couldn’t decide which one of these pistols to buy – just buy them both – he said that I had his permission!” From my point of view I had a very interesting and spirited conversation with the young lady – let’s just say VERY spirited and leave it at that . . .

Some women have NO sense of humor . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
