Pawn Shop Score! – Taurus 605 / .357 Magnum – Oh Boy!

Cruising through the local shop pawn shop to pick up my Blushing Bride something “blingy” for Valentines Day I spied a Taurus languishing away in the display case. Of course being the charitable soul that I am – adoption procedures were started forthwith . . .

Came with a DeSantis IWB ( Inside the Waist Band ) kydex holster ) and in need of a bath . . .

Got the rubber ducky out and bath time commenced – have a glamour shot!

If you want to ride the ride?? – Get your “Big Boy” pants on and hold on tight!

Tiny bit of wear at the end of the barrel and the frame – faint turn line on the cylinder – overall the bluing is in good condition, not bad for a first generation 605 – the newest this is is 2016 manufacture – the big changes for “Gen 2” was pinned grips and only available in mat black and brushed stainless . . .

At 1 lb 6 oz there just isn’t quite enough gun there to make shooting fun – in fact with Fiocchi 158 GR Jacketed Hollow Points it SUCKS . And Fiocchi loads about middle of the road for .357 Magnum . . .

Real nice trigger on it – just over 6 lb Double Action and just over 2 lb for Single Action – I suspect it has had a spring upgrade at some point in the past . . .

Definitely a candidate for fitting a pair of Ergo Grips on it – they will have to be fiddled with as the pin is not in the same place that it is on the J Frame – J Frame on top – Taurus on the bottom – I will drive the pin out of the Taurus – get the half of the grip in position and using the hole in the frame for a drill guide – gently drill a hole – flip it over – change grip halves and do it again . . .

Taurus gives you a small hole to put a wooden dowel through to tap on the side plate for removal – neat huh? – setting the Ergo Grips on the little darling you can see they almost cover the hole up completely – not enough “open” left to worry about . . .

Range time?? Range pain is a better description . . .

The first five were at 7 yards – 1/2 to 3/4 second splits – really caught me by surprise – the recoil is stupid and the muzzle blast is simply ridiculous – I LOVE IT! – the first three at 7 yards are circled – the last two? The only thing I can say is they went downrange – LOL! Moved to 4 yards and did 5 more – and that was about it for the day. And yes – I know the writing on the target is a little hard to read – the sharpie was a little hard to hold on to at that point . . .

So the plan is to order a set of Ergo Grips and adapt them to fit – then get some full SAAMI spec .357 magnum and head back to the range for further abuse test firing . . .

Trot you happy ass to your local gun store or pawn shop and start looking – supplies are catching up and prices are dropping . . .

And yes I know the posting routine is screwed up – overtime sucks and there is at least another 3 weeks of it at this point – it’s subject to change – I will try to get some stuff out there for you but I need my beauty sleep – just saying . . .

My Blushing Bride got me a new toad sticker for Valentines Day! – have to wait for warmer weather to do a review on it – but I will tease all y’all severely . . .

Now YOU understand why warmer weather is needed – my Blushing Bride just won’t let me do some things in the living room LMAO!

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
