Love the reference to equipping aircraft with “simple” modular computer components. The F106 had over 5 tons of black boxes in it to function with SAGE. As rude and crude as it all was – damned if it didn’t work – most of the time – LOL!
The ground installation equipment is still hard to wrap your head around to this day – massive amounts of equipment was involved . . .
