Charles Phoenix JOYRIDE: 1956 Mercury X-M Turnpike Cruiser

Mercury was not to be left behind in the concept car “wars” – Mercury built ONE Turnpike Cruiser in 1955 and showed it off in 1956 – I don’t like Fords BUT I would drive this . . .

But Wait – There’s More!

Mercury took from the concept car what they could incorporate into a production model and then proceeded to build the 1957 “Turnpike Cruiser” . . .

Again – I don’t care for Ford(s) – but I would drive this one . . .

Don’t know about you folks but I miss the glory days of the auto industry – the mad rush from one dealer to the next to see the new car offerings – Now?? – not so much – it is now a matter of how much polish can we ( a given car maker ) put on a turd – when the day is done a polished turd is still just a polished turd . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
