Friday Music – Orwell Edition (1984)

Before we get to 1984 – one from 1982 that I completely forgot . . . – as an aside to this – A long time ago ( 1996 ) I got a call on my cell phone – answered it – a woman asked if “Jack” was there – I said no he’s not – who’s this?? She said this is Diane . . . I asked her if she needed help dribbling off her “Bobby Brooks” – probably 10 seconds of silence and then she laughed for about 30 seconds – She says this is not Jack’s number – right? I said no it isn’t – can I help?? – Giggling she managed to say thank you for the bright spot of her week ( this was like Thursday or Friday ) We said good-bye to each other and she went on her way . . .

Any way – on with the songs . . .

One of my personal favorites from 1984 – made it to #81 – a wee bit of John not Cougar but Lennon . . .

This next?? – I know it’s from 1971 – but you just can’t do “Yes” and not have this playing on a track somewhere in your head – you’re welcome . . .

Kinda sorta had to do this next one – Enjoy . . .

And I found this as well . . .

Nena had a goal – she wanted to release an English language version in her country and a German language version in the US and have both hit number one – she didn’t make it but she tried . . .

And of course . . .

The English version in the artist’s native country and the “foreign” language in the us both number 1 hits?? – only been done once – the Japanese language version charted #1here in 1963 . . .

Enjoy !!

And you can read about here on WIKI . . .

So many to choose from – gotta stop somewhere – so here’s the number 1 for the year 1984 . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!

Meet Walter – Col. Walter L. Watson

If any of you folks pay any attention to Brian Shul’s videos he’s often referencing “Walter” – the guy that gets to do all the secret squirrel stuff while I ( Brian ) only get to drive the “sled” . . .

Meet Walter . . .

Kinda sorta the same interview only at The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum . . .

Friday Music – 1982 Edition

In 1982 MTV was in full swing and a LOT of songs really made a splash because of the whole video thing – Enjoy!

Keep scrolling – Bonus stuff at the bottom for YOU! . . .

And from Joan Jett – featuring Tommy James . . .

And this from 1983 – Sweet Dreams ( Are Made of This ) from The Eurythmics is what most people today think of when you reference the song Sweet Dreams . . .

Number 42 on Billboard’s Top 100 for 1982 – Trivia for YOU! – in 1982 1 out of 4 quarters in circulation were in the coin boxes of video games – You’re Welcome . . .

Believe or Not – Charted #56 in 1982 – from The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra . . .

This short clip of an interview and the live performance are from 1982 – Bonus points question – do you recognize the guy at the keyboard at the beginning and the white piano during the performance ??

A Hint at the insistence of my Blushing Bride – and it’s kind of a give away but here you go – Go ahead – guess who it could be . . .

Few hits achieved the international magnitude of “Runaway” – May God bless you Del – there is no depression in Heaven . . .

And I’ll get out of here with this one – I know – it’s from 1983 – the audio track has been stuck in a loop in my head for just about a week – even the damn video has been leaking out around the edges – LMAO! – that’s why MTV WAS so successful . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!

Behind The Scenes : Telstar / Bell Telephone Company – 1962

Here we are just around the corner from the 60th anniversary of this – we’ve got satellite internet and phones and all kinds of stuff – but this? It was a way cool deal when this happened . . .

And The Tornadoes ( spelled with the “E” here in the US – without it in the UK ) made it to #1 in the UK and #1 here in the US with this hit . . .

You could even say they were the #1 group of the “British Music Invasion” of the 60’s – they were after all the first British group with a #1 hit here in the US . . .

For more on the group <<<CLICK HERE>>> and read about them on WIKI . . .

Mopar Madness

Not really a Mopar guy myself – did not know about the sale until I ran across this video and that is a good thing as there are a couple that might just have tempted me – and you folks all know I can resist most everything but temptation! – LMAO . . .

I guess I really don’t want to go down the “restoration road” or I would have already . . .
