Friday Music : Sacred Numbers, and More – Flatt & Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show

I listened to the “Grand Ole Opry” on an old Hallicrafters – about a hundred foot of stranded copper for an antenna – 8 foot copper rod pounded in the ground – spring / summer / fall you would take the hose and wet the ground around every 4 or 5 days – Working WSM out of Nashville was easy – good times . . .

Speaking of Good Times – Have some “Opry” . . .

Now Where the Hell was I? – I Remember! – Sar B6bP vs CZ75B – Part 2 of 2 – Smoke & Fire

In case you missed Part 1 – GO HERE!

Now here comes a whole bunch of “stuff” out of my head and into this post – I would like to take this moment to remind EVERYONE that I am NOT responsible for any emotional damage if you continue reading – LMAO!!

First things First – this pistol was one the first SAR B6P’s available for retail – they had quite an issue with the pistols shooting low initially – it is my understanding SAR addressed this with production changes – either higher rear sights or lower front sights or some combination of both . . . Really threw me one Hell of a curve until I remembered the issue – thought I was losing my mind – Yeah – I know – small loss according to my Blushing Bride . . .

How “IT” was done – started with 2 mags for each one – loaded with 15 rounds for the first pair – 10 rounds for the second pair – loaded both then fired 5 rounds from the CZ – Then 5 from the SAR – and on that way until until both mags were empty – then did the mags with 10 rounds . . .

Danger Will Robinson! – random Bruce thoughts ahead !!

Love the thumb “shelf” grips on the CZ – going back and forth the CZ leaves the impression of being a smidge too wide and the SAR is just a smidge too narrow – but both are very shootable – until you get down to the last 2 or 3 rounds in the mag there is not any noticeable difference in muzzle flip – the recoil impulse on the CZ is a litlle sharper – But Bruce the CZ weighs more – how is that possible?? – the Sar frame flexes under the recoil impulse, the same as a Glock or any other polymer pistol – which helps to soften the recoil impulse – the trigger on the CZ feels better – the wider beavertail on the SAR feels better – with proper grip and practice the muzzle rise on the SAR increasing as the mag empties and the weight drops is not really an issue . . .

This could go on for a considerable length of time – so let’s fast forward . . .

If you are a “CZ Fan Boi” you may want to go get your big boy pants on – just saying – CZ makes an incredible product – and if you’re going to RUN one in competition – if you are going to burn through thousands and thousands and thousands of rounds – then Hell Yes – spend the money and buy that CZ75B – Everybody should own at least one premium firearm!! . . .

If you are an “average” shooter ( if such a person exists! ) and you go to the range an average of 3.7465 times per year and shoot an average of 21.384647 rounds per trip – and you are not enamored with a CZ75B – then buy 2 SAR B6P’s for the same money . . .

Virtually any holster that fits the CZ75B will fit the SAR B6P – mags are readily available HERE and several other outlets as well – and are cheaper than CZ mags!

Bottom Line? SARSILMAZ B6P – Reliable – accurate – points good – feels good – I trust it enough to carry it on occasion – just that simple . . .

You remember from way back in part one I said the actions were different?? With the SAR or the CZ when the hammer is back and the slide is forward you can engage the safety – the slide on the CZ is locked but the slide on the SAR can be racked – so . . . the SAR can have the slide locked to the rear – safety on – then a loaded mag put in and slide drooped – pistol loaded and hammer back and safety engaged the entire time – with the CZ you must re-engage the safety after charging the pistol . . .

And speaking of SAR products . . .

Should I pick one up or not?? -The Pistol!! – not the young lady – you bunch of perverts! – They are showing up in stock and for 329 bucks they look pretty good – let me know in the comments what YOU think – I know – I apologize for asking for some of that thinking shit from all y’all this late in the week – LOL!

1911 Magazine Analysis, Part 1 and 2

The information can be applied to almost all magazine fired weapons – not just 1911’s –

Some of you may find this interesting – others not so much ( different strokes )

PART 1 – click on the highlighted text to go to the entire article . . .

Introduction

I recently got the opportunity to look at a selection of 1911 magazines. Alas, my good fortune came at another’s expense: A friend of mine noticed a burr developing in the slidelock notch of his Para-Ordnance SSP along with some wear along the front side of the slide’s slidestop cutaway after less than a thousand rounds. My friend returned the gun to Para-Ordnance for service, only to have it sent back with the burrs lightly dressed and a note saying that his warranty did not cover “normal wear,” but they would not charge return shipping “in the interests of customer service.” This is definitely not the behavior of a correctly-functioning 1911, but since help was clearly not going to come from Para-Ordnance, my opinion was requested. (Clearly an act of desparation.)

And PART 2 – again, click the highlighted text to go to the article –

The very first firearms-related article I wrote dealt with 1911 magazines. (You can find it here.) That article examined how an eclectic selection of 1911 magazines interacted with the slidelock and fed ammo.

Although the prior analysis produced several interesting discoveries, it was more survey than exhaustive analysis. The magazines were treated as entire units; though this approach was appropriate for the the questions at hand, it raised more questions than it answered. Specifically, the dramatic differences observed between magazines with tapered and straight feed lips made me wonder which part of the results could be attributed to the feed lips as opposed to the shape of the follower. Furthermore, the last analysis only looked at ball ammo; would different bullet shapes such as hollowpoints or wadcutters make a difference?

There was only one way to find out, and you’re reading its writeup.

Magazines are generally THE WEAKEST LINK – Got an issue?? Change to a different magazine – or a different brand – Generally the LAST thing you want to do is start “polishing” on the feed ramp – except maybe a “fluff and buff” using Flitz or Simichrome sparingly and a micro fiber cloth – you can totally fuck up a feed ramp if you get too aggressive – such as using a Dremel or sand paper – Go ahead, ask me how I know – LMAO!!
