Let’s start with a little look at the background of the CZ 75 . . .

Manufactured by CZUB in Czechoslovakia ( don’ read Czech ?? – try HERE then ) starting in 1975 it was designed by brothers Josef and František Koucký – František Koucký was freshly retired in 1969, however the company offered him a job on designing a new 9X19 pistol – Unlike during his previous work, this time he had complete freedom in designing the whole gun from scratch. The design he developed was in many ways new and innovative . . .

The CZ 75 is a short recoil operated. locked breech pistol – it uses the Browning link-less cam locking system – think Browning Hi-Power – where the barrel and slide are locked together on firing, using locking lugs milled into the barrel mating with recesses on the underside of the slide. An enclosed cam track integral with the barrel is actuated by the slide release lever’s transverse pin. After the first few millimeters of the recoil stroke, the barrel is cammed downwards at the rear, enabling the slide to continue the recoil stroke and eject the spent cartridge.

The amazing part – to this day people are still utilizing elements of John Moses Browning’s designs in pistols and long guns . . .

The CZ 75 spawned an entire line of pistols for CZ – and became one of the most copied designs in the world – almost all of CZ’s pistol line are an outgrowth of this design – and various companies are producing CZ 75 “patterns” and knock offs as fast as they can – and they are all pretty good stuff – kinda like all the “1911’s” out there . . .

Well let’s step into this – Shall We??

All the “stuff” that you get in the box . . .

The pistol ( duh ) – two 16 round magazines – owners manual – cleaning rod and brush – lock – The Purple Grips were a freebie add on from the guys at the range, it comes from the factory with fugly black rubber grips . . .

Nothing mystical about breakdown – line up the slots and push the pin from the other side . . .

And field stripped, ready for cleaning . . .

About as perfect ” under the hood ” machining as I have ever seen . . .

The machining on the underside of the slide is better than a LOT of pistols exterior machining – ranks right up there with Beretta machining . . .

CZ stopped producing the ” High Polish ” version in 2019 – as of this post there are none available on Gun Broker or on gun.deals – they are essentially gone . . . Not saying you wouldn’t find one sitting in a case in a gun store somewhere . . . if you do, you had better grab it if you want it . . .

Pretty Damn Good for her first outing with it !!

Second Mag – again pretty good – she’s trying to get the “feel” for the grips – she’s getting some “bounce” with it . . . She should get it dialed in pretty quick . . .

She’s doing better with this fresh out of the box than with her Colt “CCS -1911-9MM” after right at 500 rounds through it . . .

Once she settles into a grip that works for her and gets the target / sight picture / grip thing established she’s gonna be “Helen Wheels” with it . . .

Let’s try and wrap this up – Ready for some random thoughts? . . . I hope so . . .

Let’s get the negative (as in ONE ) out of the way first – it’s so damn pretty you really hate to shoot it and get it dirty . . . other than that – everything else is praise – some reviews are easier than others – LOL!

Fit and finish are simply exquisite – Don’t know if CZ put any more effort into machining these while they were still producing them but it is as smooth as it gets – rail fit – trigger – just outstanding for a “factory stock” firearm – the aluminum grip panels are really nice / thins the grip down and has good texturing – The lower bore axis ( it’s a CZ!! ) helps with recoil management . . .

Thoughts from my “Blushing Bride” . . .

Gorgeous pistol – love the purple grips – the recoil is just so much smoother than anything else – Colt 1911 – What Colt 1911? – The polishing on it is incredible – relatively heavy but it balances so good – all this stuff we have and all this stuff I have shot, I have found my “one gun” – I might let Bruce carry his 2075 Rami once in a while now – LOL – shoots smooth – feels GOOD in your hand – takes a lot less effort to “hit” with it – easy to manipulate – the 3 dot sights work for me – the thumb safety is easy to work – slap a full mag in it and the slide comes forward / coool!! – very comfortable with it – Oh Wait! / I just found “my” perfect gun – just very happy . . . I was terrified it was going to be a pure vanity purchase, but after shooting it – OMG !! – wonder if I can find another one . . .

I’m in deep shit here folks – she’s eyeballing my 97BD – Folks it is a simple bottom line – CZ is Great Stuff!! . . .
