If you have room in your safe for the cat – you are not trying hard enough – just saying!
Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Not only are Fish Heads Cheap but there are millions of homeless guns in stores and pawn shops all across the country – and they deserve a kind and loving life in your home !!
Was actually going to go in a completely different direction for “music” this weekend but then I ran across this the other day – this is the only time I have ever seen Jeff Lynne without sunglasses – watched it three times before I figured out what was wrong with it – anyway enjoy it – an ELO triple play . . .
And here’s three by one my favorites – Mel McDaniel . . .
And my favorite by Mel McDaniel – having went on all night benders fishing tips on the Suwanee fishing in the Chief Land and Old Town areas – good times . . .
And to those who say Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefers couldn’t do a tender love song?? – well you’re wrong!!
And the song that Steve Goodman claims to be ( with a few changes – per David Allan Coe ) ” the perfect country western song . . .
And if you think Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show did some sketchy “stuff” over the years – they can’t hold a candle to David Allan Coe . . . And if you wonder why he never made it into the country music hall of fame – this album is the reason . . .

Found this in the Sunday paper – Looked good – gave it a try…
Prep and cooking were pretty straight forward – You really need to appreciate cilantro if you follow the recipe as written – about 90% of the time I usually do follow a recipe as close as possible the first time and this just come across as too much cilantro flavor – If it gets made again – the cumin will go to 2Tbls – the cilantro will go to 3/4 Cup – the water will go to 3 Cups . . .
Overall –
Good looking in the pan and on the plate
Nice and easy to prepare
I believe that with a little more cumin and about 1/2 the cilantro it will be worth giving it another run . . . Attractive enough that it would be a “company coming over” meal – and easy enough to fix that your not bogged down in the kitchen . . .
Really neat dinner “stuff” is wonderful – but when you are hammered in the kitchen that just doesn’t leave much time for “elbow rubbin and ring bumpin” – and let’s be real – this recipe works good because the finish is pretty much “touch free” except the for the garnish and you can prep that ahead of time.
Okay – I will start posting some of my cooking “stuff” – you’re welcome ( you know who you are ! ) LOL

I have a little bit of interest in the cold war and some of its hardware – I just could not afford the shipping for the MIG 21 for the backyard so I picked this up instead . . .
Radom P64 – 1975 Vintage
Really decent example of a piece of cold war history. Chambered in 9X18 Makarov and complete with two magazines – one mag even has matching numbers with the Pistol!
Radom claims that they did not copy the Walther PPK – well . . . there is no parts interchangeability – it is chambered in 9X18 – it is fractionally larger – who am I to say whether they did or didn’t – but it is a real neat little piece! To give you a good idea of the size here it is compared to a Glock 17 –
I had to use the last shot – it simply disappears under the Glock!
Breakdown is real simple – hammer back – pull down on the trigger guard – back and up on the slide – and you’re there (just like a Walther)
left side – looks like a Walther . . .
Straight blow back design – double action – single action – decocker – just like a Walther . .
Right side – looks like a Walther
Slide – machining is certainly not up to Walther standards – but it sure goes bang every time!
About the bang thing – the Polish military wanted to use the same round in their service pistol that they were using in their sub machine gun – makes sense – however the specs for the round called for very hard primers – which in turn meant you needed a very heavy hammer spring – double action trigger pull comes in somewhere around 24 pounds – oh my my. However the manual of arms called for the pistol to be carried hammer decocked – safety on -empty chamber – 6 rounds in the magazine. Don’t forget – this was a military and police issue weapon – for the most part it was carried as a symbol – of military rank or police authority (a symbol of power – for the vast majority the civilian populace were totally unarmed).
Ball ammo is readily available – quite a variety – including hollow points and even Hornady Critical Defense!
The PPU 9X18 ball ammo is quite respectable :
muzzle velocity – 1049 fps
muzzle energy – 224 ft lbs
Empty weight
Fully loaded weight
Is it a carry piece? – There are people out there who carry Makarov pistols as well as P64’s – for me not so much – in the case of the P64 decent holsters become an issue as well as the heavy d/a trigger pull – second and subsequent shots are s/a – which is really decent – good defensive ammo is available but the pistol was designed for ball ammo – you read about some feeding issues – I have to say no to carry – but it is a great piece of history and a real blast to shoot – now the P83 (which replaced the P64) is starting to show up in increasing numbers and lower prices (the P83 has been replaced) so I am looking for a decent one at a good price –

I mentioned to one person that my blushing bride wanted a batch of beans and I figured I would go ahead and make some. Three phone calls and 5 text messages later here is how they go together . ( Are you chow hounds happy! – happy! – happy! now?? )
Get your 7 quart crock pot out – plug it in – set it on low . . .
Gotta have some meat . . .
Cut the bacon up . . . In the skillet on low heat . . .
Ain’t that pretty . . .
While the bacon is simmering merrily away – score the hocks about every inch or so and put them in the crock pot . . .
A little bonus recipe for hocks – score them – use enough pieces to cover the bottom of your stock pot – 6 or 8 of them – whatever it takes – about 1/3 cup minced garlic – 1/4 cup of hot sauce – chunk up an onion or two – 1/2 T salt – 1/2 T black pepper – cover with water by about an inch or so – – bring to a boil – reduce to a low simmer – cover and cook for about 2 1/2 hours or so – serve over big bowls of rice – some corn bread and a big glass of buttermilk . . . . Just make sure they don’t boil dry!!
Now where were we???????
That’s right – making a batch of beans – wow – forgot what the hell I was doing there for a minute!!
Chop up about a 1/2 bunch of celery – into the pot . . .
Throw in a lb. of carrots . . .
!/4 cup minced garlic . . .
!/4 cup of hot sauce . . .
1/4 cup of mustard . . .
!/2 a jar of this stuff . . .
1 1/2 lbs navy beans – 1 T kosher salt – 1 T fresh ground black pepper . . .
Don’t lose track of the bacon – you want want it to just start to “crisp” . . .
And for the truly hardcore . . . drain the bacon – save the grease – you can mix it half and half with peanut butter – keep it in the fridge – it is pure heaven on a toasted English Muffin!!!!!! Better than sex – no need to shower afterwards – LOL!!
Into the crock pot . . .
Add water to about 1/2inch from the top . . .
Put the lid on the crock pot and forget it for 12 to 16 hours – and don’t forget to make sure the crock pot is on – I always make BIG batches since whenever I make them it seems like it is never enough!! Give it a stir about 1/2 way through and make sure you have enough water in the crock pot – and enjoy!!
Have Fun – Run the Gun – And remember Fish Heads are not the only thing I can cook!!
A whole lot of folks do “Hump Day” posts – welcome to my version . . . ( note to my younger readers – I will try to set up a way so you can send your allowances and lunch money in to help these poor girls buy more clothes ) – LMAO!!
Enjoy your Hump Day!!
