Colt M1991A1

Ain’t she purty?? In a real no nonsense – no frills kinda way??

A close up of the “blems” on the gun – the two spots to the rear of the ejection port is oil reflecting light . . .

This particular Colt was “born” in 1994 – still a young one . . .

This little blurb from WIKI – click anywhere on it to go to the actual page @ WIKI . . .

Colt 1991 Series (1991–2001 ORM; 2001–present NRM): A hybrid of the M1911A1 military model redesigned to use the slide of the Mk. IV Model 80; these models aimed at providing a more “mil-spec” pistol to be sold at a lower price than Colt’s other 1911 models in order to compete with imported pistols from manufacturers such as Springfield Armory and Norinco. The 1991–2001 model used a large “M1991A1” roll mark engraved on the slide. The 2001 model introduced a new “Colt’s Government Model” roll mark engraving. The 1991 series incorporates full-sized blued and stainless models in either .45 ACP or .38 Super, as well as blued and stainless Commander models in .45 ACP.

The part that appealed to a lot of folks – it hearkened back to a bare bones – all business – get down and dirty no frills “slabside” – just a plain old 1911! And For that reason a lot of folks wanted them – and bought them – they simply performed well.

Just plain hard rubber grips – no fancy hardwoods – nothing to worry about scratching or dinging – just taking care of business . . .

Blacked the barrel as well . . .

Front sight – that’s right – no serrations . . .

Rear sight is just as fancy . . .

Fresh out of the bath – all lubed up and ready to go – Damned if that don’t sound . . . Get your mind out of the gutter!!

Look at the feed ramp . . .

Barrel . . . ain’t gonna do nothing with it except run about 500 rounds of hard ball through and polish it the old fashioned way – then maybe a light fluff and buff – right now it ain”t broke so I’m damn sure not going to fix it!!

And the firing pin block – it is an “80” series . . . Trigger Break is a consistent 5 lbs – it is nice for an “80” series – Ain’t 5 lbs a little high?? – Folks ya gotta remember – it is a combat handgun! Not a competition gun . . . – Empty weight with 7 round magazine is 2 lbs 5 oz – it soaks up recoil very nicely and the hard rubber grips work good too . . .

Does it shoot?? – If I leave the sights alone and just bring it up and go – Hell Yes!!

#1 and #2 groups I’m over thinking the sight picture / target picture thing – my blushing bride told me just pull it up and shoot – pretend it’s your Rock Island – so I did – #3 worked pretty good – she jumped my ass about #4 – You’re. Thinking. Too. Much. – Damned if I didn’t know better I think she is actually paying attention to some of the “stuff” I’m trying to insert between her ears about shooting – LOL!!

Groups 1 through 4 run about 1 second splits – she brought the target in – put a black dot in the middle – she loaded the magazine – stuck it in the gun – told me there is somewhere between 1 and 7 rounds in the magazine – the black dot is the “shirt button” – come up fast and dump the mag as fast as the gun will run – DON’T. THINK. JUST. DO. IT. – so I did it – up and dump – that is 5 rounds in about a second and a half – I think I’ll keep her – and the Colt as well!! – LMAO . . .

Have Fun! – Run the Gun! – and remember – Fish Heads are Cheap!!
