Friday Music – Tripping around in the 60’s

Not only were they going in the 60’s – they are still doing it today . . .

The 60’s? – The Hollies! – one of my favorite 60’s groups . . .

And some Moody Blues – a laid aside studio track that wasn’t released until 2007 – “recorded at Wessex Studios – 4th to 9th November 1970. This superb Justin Hayward composition was recorded during the first session for the album that became “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour.” Essentially performed live in the studio, the version presented here features Justin’s original vocal track (treated with a delayed reverb effect) and an extended guitar solo . . .’recorded at Wessex Studios – 4th to 9th November 1970. For comparison – here’s the “normal” track of “The Story in Your Eyes” . . .

I’m not sure which one I like better – they are both good . . .

Humor me on this one folks – I just can’t do anything by the Moody Blues and NOT do this one – ’cause it’s my favorite Moody Blues song AND well up in the “Favorite 50” of mine – one day I might have to do a series of Friday Music posts of My Favorite 50 . . .

From 64 or 65 – Enjoy!!

And when you mention this next one to people they be like “Oh yeah – Phil Collins – Right?” – No – not even close – no cigar . . .

Hard to touch on the 60’s and not do Scott McKenzie’s “San Francisco” . . .

And talking about San Francisco . . .

This could go on all day – but I’ll wrap it up with a couple from “Donovan” – Enjoy the tunes and have a good weekend . . .

Speaking of weekends – I just started an eleven day weekend – I AM enjoying MY weekend – LMAO! – and not from the 60’s – but a GREAT weekend song for YOU!

Browse a Western Auto Catalog

Who remembers their local Western Auto store? Western Auto – Holiday stations – and OTASCO stores all competed for your shotgun shell money every fall hunting season – they would literally have stacks of it – Good Times !

When you saw the shotgun shells piling up you didn’t have to check your calendar – it was the last week of September / first week of October . . .

F. E. Warren AFB – Ready to Launch – Then and Now

A couple of vids – one from the beginning of the “missile” mission at Warren AFB . . .

And one with a more current look . . .

I’ve posted this one before – it gives you a different look at “Minuteman” . . .

Check out the museum’s web site HERE – might have to make a road trip . . .

Hell of a way to serve the Lord . . .

Got Tin Foil?? You’ll Need It after This . . .

Not even going into the multiple leveled “conspiracy” theories intentionally put out to cast doubt on other conspiracy theories and the propaganda put out by the world’s largest propaganda machine ( Hollywoodland ) to further muddy the water . . .

The American Dreadnaught – from 1968

A little dated – but pretty good stuff . . .

Nobody in their right mind – or even their left mind – wants to go toe to toe with a “battleship” with ANYTHING LESS THAN A BIG GUN SHIP – remember folks – they never traveled alone – they operated in what was called ( using modern acronyms ) a Battleship Battle Group [BBBG] – which to put it simply is a world of hurt showing up on your doorstep – and the Iowa class ships never went out to sea without a nuclear powered hunter / killer sub with it as well ( the subs were utilized for their ASW – they were just too damn noisy to be an effective ASW platform ) and when utilized with a carrier battle group ( CARGRU ) – OH MY . . .

The elephant in the room for “The Big Gun Ships” was the simple fact that the weapon system was designed for just one thing – to seek out – engage – and prevail against other “Big Gun Ships” -and make no mistake about about it – the entire ship was designed as a “system” – they were / are expensive to operate and even more so if you are trying to re-task them because there are no more battleships to fight . . .

But God help you if you were unfortunate enough to be within roughly 23 miles of one – you are having one bad day and chances are it will not end well . . .

Friday Music – Dean Martin Special

After catching a few clips of Dean while putting together the Carol Wayne post the other day – it wasn’t to hard to put together a Friday Music post . . .

Let’s start with his cover of The Duprees great hit “You Belong To Me” – I actually did a Friday Music Post on just that song – this song was covered by just about everybody that was somebody . . .

I was resigned to the task of posting a whole bunch of “stuff” when I ran across these next two – sit back and enjoy about two hours of Dean at his best . . .

And since we started with Dean’s cover – here’s the original for YOU! ( no extra charge )
